In the winter of 2017, a fire broke out in a building on the outskirts of Beijing, killing 19 people. The government then launched a massive crackdown on illegal group rentals with tough measures, but the crackdown left a large number of low-income people who rented apartments in Beijing's suburbs homeless. Those in the lower echelons of the industry have been told they need to move out of the high risk, densely populated apartments within a certain period of time, but cannot afford to pay the rent of "a room per person". When these people had to leave Beijing, Prices rising, breakfast carts disappeared, and the molding factories used for sculptors has broken.  All walks of life felt the impact. In this work, my model belongs to one of them.

The inspiration of this work came from a conversation with him. Then, I combined my portrait of him with chicken feathers, sofa cushions, old wood collected from the demolished house ruins and other ready-made products to form the current work.
